EXCELLENT Based on 331 reviews Posted on Google Erica MartinezTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Dr. Herraka truly cares about his patients. I’ve been struggling with awful pains and gastro issues for years with no clear answer or medication plan. He was able to find micro-colitis when he biopsied and since starting the medication, I am already feeling relief. I feel grateful to have found him. Would highly recommend him.Posted on Google marta hagoTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. About Dr. Herraka
A gastroenterologist who built his practice around the liver
Dr. Ihab Herraka is a board-certified gastroenterologist who has spent his career caring for patients with one of the most common — and most overlooked — conditions in medicine: fatty liver disease. He earned his medical degree from the University of Aleppo School of Medicine, then completed his Internal Medicine residency and Gastroenterology fellowship at the University of Florida College of Medicine. He has been in clinical practice since 2012.
Board-certified in Gastroenterology, Internal Medicine, and Obesity Medicine, Dr. Herraka brings an unusual combination of training to liver care. Fatty liver disease is rarely a problem of the liver alone — it is driven by weight, insulin resistance, blood sugar, and cholesterol. His dual expertise in gastroenterology and obesity medicine allows him to treat the liver and the metabolic factors behind it together, rather than in isolation.
He is a member of the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (AASLD), the American College of Gastroenterology (ACG), and the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE), and stays current with the rapidly evolving standards of care for MASLD, MASH, and liver fibrosis — including the newest FDA-approved therapies.
Where His Focus Lies
Areas of Focus
A focused, liver-centered practice — with the metabolic expertise to treat the conditions that drive fatty liver disease.
Fatty Liver Disease (MASLD)
Evaluation and treatment of nonalcoholic / metabolic fatty liver, from early steatosis onward.
MASH / NASH
Steatohepatitis — fatty liver with active inflammation and liver-cell injury.
Liver Fibrosis
Interpreting abnormal ALT/AST results, identifying the cause, and determining what comes next.
Metabolic & Obesity-Related Liver Disease
Managing the diabetes, insulin resistance, and weight that drive liver disease — treated alongside the liver itself.
Comprehensive Liver Evaluation
Full assessment of liver health, with coordinated referral to hepatology for advanced conditions such as cirrhosis.
Rather than treating a fatty liver in isolation, he looks at the full metabolic picture — weight, blood sugar, cholesterol, and overall health — because that is where meaningful, lasting improvement happens.
